Setup & Daily Use
π οΈ Setup (20 minutes, once)
Laminate every page. Cut out the subject cards and transition cards. Stick velcro (hook side) on the timetable board slots and Now/Next slots; loop side on the back of every card. Store spare cards on a ring or in a wallet stuck beside the board.
π
Each morning
Build the day together β the child helps place the cards. Saying each one aloud ("first phonics, then snackβ¦") is the day's first preview and takes 90 seconds. Predictability is the whole point: what's on the board is a promise.
β
Through the day
When an activity ends, the child turns the card over, moves it to a "finished" envelope, or ticks the box β the physical action of FINISHING matters enormously. For children who can't manage the whole day at once, use only the Now/Next board and feed it from the main timetable.
π When plans change
Don't quietly swap cards β that breaks trust in the board. Use the "change of plan" card: place it ON the old card, say "the plan changed β swimming is now PE", swap, and move on. Pairs with the "When Plans Change" social story.

Now / Next / Then
π For children who find the full day too much β three steps is plenty. Velcro one card in each column and refresh as the day moves.
π‘ Put a motivating card in THEN ("now maths β‘οΈ next reading β‘οΈ then PLAYTIME") β the board does the persuading for you.

Transition & Warning Cards
βοΈ Show, don't just say β a card in the child's eyeline lands better than a voice across the room. Show the 5-minute card, then the 1-minute card, then "time to stop".
