Love animals? There are dozens of real careers — and not all of them need a degree. Let's explore.

Three routes in

There's more than one path — and no single "right" one. It depends on how you like to learn.

Apprenticeship

Earn while you learn, on the job. Great for hands-on roles like veterinary nursing, keeping and grooming. Usually GCSEs to start; you get paid and gain a qualification.

🏫

College / T-Level

Study animal management or animal care at college (Levels 1–3). Mixes classroom with work placements — a strong base for keeping, rescue and welfare work, or to step up to a degree.

🎓

University degree

Needed for some roles like veterinary surgeon, and useful for zoology or marine biology. Longer and academic, but opens research and senior roles.
