Five little steps, and one of our animals cheering you along. Tap a step when you've
done it. Nothing counts down, and you can never lose a step.
Why five steps, and why so gentle? A big goal is frightening — “finish the book”
is too far away to feel possible. But five small steps you can see and tick off turns an
impossible thing into five easy ones. That is the whole trick, and it is the same trick grown-ups use
on themselves.
There is no time limit and no going backwards. A step done is done, whatever kind of day it was.
A tracker that could take steps away would be a threat, and a threatened child stops trying.
