2.  A population of deer grows by 8% each year. There are 500 now. Write a formula for the number after t years, and calculate the number after 3 years. [4 marks]
Maths — Statistics & Probability
Learning objective: Interpret data and calculate probability.
A vet records the mass (kg) of 7 rescue dogs: 12, 15, 15, 18, 22, 24, 30.
1.  Find the mean, median, mode and range. [4 marks]
2.  One dog is chosen at random. Find the probability its mass is more than 20 kg. Give your answer as a fraction in simplest form. [2 marks]
3.  The vet says 'the mean is the best average here'. Do you agree? Justify your answer. [2 marks]
English Language — Reading (Non-Fiction)
Learning objective: Analyse language and structure (AQA Paper 2 style).
Read the source, then answer.

"The badger cull divides the countryside like few other issues. To dairy farmers watching bovine TB tear through their herds, culling feels like the only weapon left. To ecologists, it is a costly cull of a protected native mammal on contested evidence. Both sides claim the moral high ground; both can point to data; neither has persuaded the other. The cattle, and the badgers, have no say at all."

English Language — Writing
Learning objective: Produce clear, accurate persuasive writing.
'Wild animals should never be kept in zoos.' Write a speech for a school debate arguing EITHER for OR against this statement. Aim for 1 to 1.5 sides. Marks are for a clear viewpoint, structured argument, rhetorical technique and accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar. [16 marks]
