Metric Measurements Workbook

Length, mass and capacity — taught through animals. Read the reminders, then work through the exercises. Type your answers and press Check when you're ready; nothing is timed, and a wrong answer just shows you the right one.

Learn the units

The metric system measures the length, mass (weight) or capacity of an object.

This……equals
1 cm10 mm
1 m100 cm
1 km1000 m
1 kg1000 g
1 litre1000 ml
Remember: a pencil is about 5 cm (50 mm) long; a guinea pig weighs about 900 g; a big dog about 30 kg. Very heavy animals like elephants are often given in tonnes (1 tonne = 1000 kg).
