1. Our commitment
Pets on the Green Ltd is committed to safer recruitment. Anyone engaging in regulated activity with children — including delivering in-person animal sessions on school premises — holds a current Enhanced DBS check with a children’s barred-list check before starting. We follow the principles of Keeping Children Safe in Education (Part 3) as they apply to contractors and visitors.
2. Current checks
| Person / role | DBS level | Barred-list check | Issue date / Update Service |

3. Our vetting process
- Verified identity and right to work.
- Enhanced DBS with barred-list check for regulated activity.
- References obtained and checked.
- Relevant qualifications confirmed (e.g. Animal-Assisted Therapy practitioner, SEND training).
- Safeguarding training completed on induction and refreshed at least annually.
- Signed code of conduct covering behaviour, contact and use of devices/photography.
4. Visitors to school premises
When attending a school we sign in per the school’s visitor and safeguarding procedures, present DBS evidence and photo ID on request, and remain supervised in line with the school’s expectations for contractors. We add relevant individuals to a single record of checks equivalent to a single central record.
5. Ongoing suitability
We operate a duty to refer to the DBS where the legal threshold is met, and re-check suitability at appropriate intervals or on any concern. Any change affecting a person’s suitability is acted on immediately.
