🕐How to read a clocktap to open

A clock has two hands that work as a team:

🔴 Hour Hand (SHORT hand)
The short, fat red hand. It tells you what hour it is. It moves slowly around the clock.

🔵 Minute Hand (LONG hand)
The long, thin blue hand. It tells you how many minutes have passed. It moves faster.

Reading O'Clock

When the long hand points straight up to the 12, it is exactly the start of a new hour. Look at where the short hand points — that's the hour.
Example: short hand at 8, long hand at 12 → 8 o'clock

Reading Minutes — skip count by 5!

1 = 5 mins

2 = 10 mins

3 = 15 mins (quarter past)

4 = 20 mins

5 = 25 mins

6 = 30 mins (half past)

Reading any time — two steps:

1. Check the short hand — which number did it just pass? That's the hour.
2. Check the long hand — multiply the number it points to by 5. That's the minutes.
Example: short hand just past 4, long hand on 5 → 4:25
