THE RED FOX
The red fox is Britain's only wild member of the dog family. It hunts mostly at dusk and dawn, when the light is dim. A fox's diamond-shaped paw print is narrower than a dog's rounder one. Foxes are omnivores โ€” they eat small mammals, birds, insects, worms and even berries. In towns, foxes have learned to find food in bins, which is why they are seen more often in cities than they were fifty years ago.

3.  A hedgehog eats about 70 slugs a night. Roughly how many is that in a week? Estimate first, then work it out.

Learning objective: Understand producers, consumers and predators.
