Not mascots. Not clip art. Children learn the real husbandry, welfare and cost of the animals we care for — and every animal is a way in to lessons, videos and quizzes.
Not a pile of worksheets — a journey. A run of lessons and games that build to a badge and a certificate, so there is always a reason to come back.
Food chains, habitats, adaptations and life cycles — taught, then practised.
Everything about hedgehogs — how they live, and how to help them in your own garden.
A full KS2 science workbook journey, one animal topic at a time.
Feelings, calm and confidence — a gentle daily path, at your child's pace.
Everything you need to learn through animals — from your very first phonics lesson to GCSE science.

Most learning apps are built for the child who finds learning easy. This one is not.
Neglect most virtual pets and they sicken. For an anxious child that is a debt, not a friend. Ours never gets ill. Care is rewarded; absence is never punished.
A streak counter is a threat dressed up as encouragement. Ours only counts up. A short day is never a failure.
A flagged child's wellbeing data is walled off at the database level. We hold almost no personal data — the less we hold, the less there is to lose.
Gary, Rosie, Elvis and Marvin exist — they are ours. Children learn real welfare and real cost, including when the honest answer is "this pet is not right for you".
This is Gary. He is a real hedgehog, and he lives with us in Surrey.
PawSteps grew out of animal-assisted therapy sessions in Surrey — real children, real animals, in the room. The children who lit up were often the ones school had already given up on. They would not read for a teacher, but they would read to a hedgehog.
The problem it solves: the child who has been failed by every app that scored them, timed them and told them they had lost a streak.
A short day, and it is theirs: check in (tap how you feel, nothing scored), one activity (a lesson, game, story or worksheet at their level), care for their pet, then stop when the gentle target is met. Default 15–30 minutes, set by you. It never nags for more.
It is gamification with the cruelty taken out. Coins are earned by learning and spent on your animal — never loot boxes, never real money. Badges are for real things and they print. Streaks count up and never reset — miss a week and you lose nothing.
Five dashboards — learner, parent, teacher, SENCO/therapist and home educator — each showing only what that person needs: what they did, how they felt, patterns over time, and one thing to try next. All printable for an EHCP review or parents' evening.
We hold almost nothing, deliberately. A first name is enough. UK-hosted, row-level security in the database, an append-only safeguarding audit trail, and we never sell or share pupil data.
One subscription covers your whole family or class — every age, every subject, every tool. Cancel any time. The animal care guides are free and unlimited, forever — an animal's welfare should never sit behind a paywall.
Free to start, and no card needed to look around. Install it to the home screen and it works offline, like an app — because it is one.
